Understanding Love

A thorough understand of love is absolutely essential if one is to truly understand the central message of the Bible. When the Bible speaks about love it is not restricted to only speaking about our feelings for others or romantic love.  What the Bible does teach is that ‘Love’ is about Commitment

The bible makes it very clear that ‘Love’ is not depend on good feelings but instead ‘love’ is dedicated to making a consistent and bold decision to give of ourselves for another person’s well being.  Love has these qualifying traits: dedication, loyalty, steadfastness, faithfulness, duty and responsibility.  Love is willing to sacrifice for the good of another.

Jesus is the perfect example of God’s love for us because he gave his life to save us. John 15:12-14 tells us Jesus said; “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you.”

Love matters to God, so it should matter to us. Because the Bible tells us that  we are created in God’s image we are suppose to treat others with honor and respect. Our words and actions should show that we value the other person because that person is of value to God.  The first 3 verses of 1 Corinthians 13 tells us that if our motives are wrong, if they are not aligned with selfless giving than any thing we do will amount to nothing of eternal value.

The Servant Song

Romans 12:9-21

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good.

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;

rejoicing in hope; , persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer,

Contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly.  Do not be wise in your own estimation.

Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men.

If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.

Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY.”

“BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD.”

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

From the NASB

The Cheerful Christian

If we actively pursue God as the priority of our lives, we will have joy and peace of unlimited measure. The more we know God and his word, the more we will know joy. It comes from knowing that we have a lasting hope in Christ. We have the promise that God will never forsake us and will always be with us, even to the end of the age. This promise brings great joy to my heart.

 “Let the godly rejoice. Let them be glad in God’s presence. Let them be filled with Joy.” Psalm 68:3

Kindness and God’s Grace

KINDNESS AND GOD’S GRACE

There has been lots of talk in the news of late of strangers going and paying off peoples Christmas debt owed on their lay-a-way purchases at various stores such as Kmart and Walmarts across America. These people have opened their wallets to share monetarily and give kindness towards those they do not know. This show of kindness in these hard economic times has brought many of it’s recipients to tears and given great joy of relief to those who have received this gift from these mysterious kindhearted strangers.

 Kindness is a sign of a loving heart which is one of the greatest of all virtues. A kind person is good, pleasant and always appreciated. There is much talk today about ‘Random acts of Kindness’ probably due in part to our society’s decline in these most precious virtues, and people are starving for these kinds of good deeds which were more prevalent in days gone by, but not as common today.

 God is our model of Kindness and shows us Kindness each day by sending us sunshine, rain and snow, crops for food, and everyday provisions to sustain us. (Acts 14:17) We have family and friends who show us love and encouragement and sharing of their wisdom. The kindest act ever was when God sent his only Son to die on the cross for our sins so that we might live forever in heaven. Jesus paid a debt that was not His when he died on the cross for our sins. Even though we don’t deserve it, (Rom 11:6) God shows us mercy and kindness. God’s love is compassionate and longsuffering

 The LORD is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.

 The LORD is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works,

 All Your works shall give thanks to You, O LORD, And Your godly ones shall bless You.

 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power;

 To make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts and the glory of the majesty of Your Kingdom.

Psalms 145:8-12

 God is full of goodness, merciful and patient. God is Kindness itself. Everything He does for us is an act of kindness to help us become all He created us to be. God with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous.

 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;

 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;

 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. “   Romans 3:23-26

 “But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:4,5

God forgives our sins and offers us salvation…a guarantee of living forever with him in heaven. If God were not kind we would get the punishment we deserve, but because He is kind we get the forgiveness we don’t deserve because of what Jesus Christ did on the cross. In God’s kindness He meets our needs. God’s kindness has hands and feet and is not just merely talk but comes through the acts of others as well. As Christians we especially need to remember this in our attitudes and actions towards others. Too many times I’ve seen this lacking in Christians and in Christianity today. There is this self-righteousness which is unbecoming and uncharacteristic of a Christian. God tells us how we must behave towards others. It is not our place to condemn and banish others. When we must judge and discern a matter or a situation, we are to judge fairly with righteous judgment, with mercy (Zechariah 7:9) and restoration, and reconciliation. (Ephesians 4:32)

 ”Thus has the LORD of hosts said, ‘Dispense true justice and practice kindness and compassion each to his brother; and do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the stranger or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.’

 But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped their ears from hearing. They made their hearts like flint, so that they could not hear the law and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophesy; therefore great wrath came from the LORD of hosts. “ (Zechariah 7:9-12)

 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ  has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

 ”Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. ” (Proverbs 3:3)

 It has been said that true kindness is not a single act but a lifestyle. Kindness looks after the needs of others. Kindness does not look the other way when someone is in need.  Start showing kindness in the small things you do and say and eventually you will be kind in all situations.

Recovered Memory Therapy: Dangerous Medicine From The World

Recovered Memory Therapy: Dangerous Medicine From The World

By David M. Tyler

Jane never knew about her tormented childhood until she began counseling. The counselor was on staff at the church Jane and her husband attended.  Under the counselor’s supervision, Jane remembered how her father had repeatedly raped her, impregnated her, and performed an abortion on her using a coat hanger.  Yet in truth, Jane, at the time of the purported incidents, was a virgin and her father had received a vasectomy years prior to the alleged incest and impregnation.

Kathy had gone to a psychiatrist in an attempt to manage her reaction to a traumatic event her son had experienced.  The psychiatrist used various techniques, including hypnosis and visualization, causing Kathy to remember years of abuse of which she had not been conscious.  As counseling progressed, Kathy became convinced that she had repressed memories of having been in a satanic cult, of murdering and eating babies, and being raped.  When Kathy realized that false memories had been planted, she sued the psychiatrist for malpractice. (1)

Both Jane and Kathy were victims of Recovered Memory Therapy (RMT), the practice of delving back into a counselee’s past fro repressed memories.  The process is based on the presupposition that the mind is like a video recorder and is filled with intact memories of past events that are hidden from the counselee.  Through the use of hypnosis, (2) the therapist helps the subject “remember” these events.

 Life’s problems and man’s sinful behavior always seem to have therapists digging around in the trash cans for solutions.  And these unbiblical strategies come and go from low self-esteem to multiple personality disorder to victimization to dysfunctional to the current trend of recovered memories.  Keeping in line with the treatment of the day, many therapists now believe that nearly everyone is a victim of some sexual abuse, and a great number of the recovered memories pertain to sexual abuse.

 This lack of conscious memories, which purportedly are so traumatic that the mind has had to repress them, is cited as proof of the abuse.  Other recovered memories may include those of abductions by extraterrestrials.  The New York Times reported on a Harvard study which found “people who genuinely believed that they had been taken by extraterrestrials and had built elaborate narratives of space travel, mind control and erotic encounters with beings from other planets.”  (3) Other recovered memories involved satanic rituals or traumas in a “previous” life.  RMT therapists are not put off at all by bizarre “recollections.”  They either take them at face value or believe them to be symbolic of real experiences.

While opposition and lawsuits have slowed the impact of Recovered Memory Therapy, some psychotherapists still use it.

Over the past several decades the RMT movement has swept across America.  Thousands of counselors enthusiastically participated.  Countless cases of alleged abuses that had been repressed in people’s subconscious have been claimed and reported.  Incest and abuse support groups were formed as people “remembered” and “recovered” from their abusive pasts.  Untold seminars, books, tapes, and testimonies accompanied the frenzy of the RTM movement.  Afternoon talk shows showcased housewives, bricklayers, and celebrities telling their heart-wrenching stories of abuse by parents, pastors, teachers, and others.  As a result, thousands of people, insisting that they were innocent, were hauled into court, publicly humiliated, and even imprisoned.

It is a strange and dangerous time when people are being accused, tried, and convicted with no more evidence of guilt than the word of the accuser.

Even some of the therapists’ own number are not too sure.  One psychiatrist likens it to the hysteria and superstitious zeal of the witch trials of the 16th and 17th centuries.  It is sad to think how families have been torn apart and loved ones imprisoned on “evidence” provided by memories that come back in dreams and flashbacks.

Work

What does the Bible say about Work.  It does not tell us that we are ungodly worldly- minded or disobedient to God because we DO work for a living.  Working for a living is NOT a sign of lack of faith,  as was suggested to me.  God’s promise to provide for our needs— is not an excuse to be lazy or not have a job and shows a lack of understand of what the bible instructs about ’work’.  God does provide for our needs, but that doesn’t mean you do not work or have a job in the process of God meeting those needs.

 2 Thessalonians 3:6 – 14

“Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the tradition which you received from us.

 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined manner among you,

 Nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we kept working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you;

 Not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you, so that you would follow our example.

 For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order:  if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.

 For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.

 Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread.

 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.

 If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame.”

There is no such thing as a secular job for a Christian; all work is a spiritual duty to be done as an opportunity to give glory to God (1 Cor 10:31)  2 Thess 3:6-14  is a perfect example of what God expects of the believer.  Christians are to have a wage earning job and not to leech off of other Christians who work hard and obey the commands from Scripture to work for a living.  (2 Thess 3:8)

 The Biblical ethic of “Work” is spoken about in the bible as a gift from God.  One commentary says: “Man’s occupation with it provides development of skill and productivity, significant contribution, value, meaning and fulfillment in life.  It also prevents idleness which, as clearly seen in the indolent of every society, is debilitating and destructive. It is well said that “idle hands are the devil’s workshop,” God also gave work to man as a means of demonstrating the image of in him who by work satisfaction of serving the needs of other people.”  1

 In Paul’s ministry he dealt with this issue 3 times (2 Thess 3:10, 1 Thess. 4:11-12) and bluntly confronted those who refused to provide for their needs and work.

 The Bible gives instruction as to what our attitude is to be about having a job and working. That we are to provide for our own needs such as for food and shelter,  2 Thess 3:8, and can also help us to contribute to the needs of others. To live our lives in this way is being obedient to God and brings honor to His name.

 But some Thessalonian believers were not living consistently with this biblical view of work. They were causing strife in the church, being busybodies, gossips and troublemakers  (2 Thess 3:11) by refusing to work and leeching off the rest of the congregation. The writer doesn’t reveal their motives. They may have felt it was beneath them to have a job or they may have believed that since Christ could return at any moment having a job and working for a living was pointless, or it may have just been laziness which the bible condemns (Proverbs 10:26; 12:27; 15:19; 24:30-34).  But it is not mentioned of their motives why they failed to work because none of them are valid.  There is no excuse for someone who has the ability and opportunity,  but does not work.   It is not biblical to expect others to pay your way in this world or to expect God to be our servant in giving us a free ride in this life. In fact we are instructed that we are to have nothing to do with one who does this, “but admonish him as a brother.” 2 Thess 3:14,15)  We are not only to have our doctrine right, but our  work ethic right as well. In these most difficult times we must do all we can to stand firmly and live obedient fruitful lives and not grow weary in doing what is good.

A Colorful Sunset

 As Nightfall Approaches on Lake Tahoe a beautiful sunset graces the sky - Sunday – November 13, 2011.

There is no limit to God’s existence in time or in distance. He is infinite,  in the vastness of the entire universe as well as in the smallest neutron inside a molecule.  He existed before the beginning of time and will be after the end of time. There is no limit to His power, or to His Knowledge, or to His existence.  He has no bounds.

Romans 11:36

“For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.  To Him be the glory forever.  Amen.

In Christ

 The strength of a Christian is in Christ. It is not based on how many friends one may think they have,  or how successful we may be in this life.  Our faith endures no matter what the trials or heartaches may be.

“Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Just as it is written,

“FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG;  WE  WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.”

But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. “  Romans 8:35-39

A Drift into Deception – Test the spirits

In today’s spiritual climate there are many false teachers and  some false teachers intermingling with weak churches that have pastors that are not discerning error for their flocks. Stand Firm in the Faith believer!  Do not walk with them or partake of these strange manifestations and strange doctrines and teachings that are becoming  prevalent and are spiritually destructive and these practices are leading many astray, they may be in your town right now. It is a Drift into deception. 2 Cor. 11:4

“For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully.”

 One of the problems in Christianity today is that it is readily believed: because something is supernatural it must be of God. The possibility that it might be evil or demonic is rejected. Scriptures that warn believers ( 1 John 4:1, 2 Thess 2:9-12, 2 Thess 2:3-4, 2 Peter 2:1-2, 2 Peter 3:17, 2 Tim 4:3, to test and know that false Christs and false prophets will be in abundance in the last days. These false teachers will cause many to follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned. 2 Peter 2:2.

 False apostles deceive – 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

 False apostles lie – Revelation 2:2

 False prophets- Matthew 7:15; 24:11 Mark 13:22

 False teachers – Matthew 5:19; 15:9 1 Timothy 1:7; 1 Timothy 4:2; 1 Timothy 6:3; Titus 1:11, 2 Corinthians 11:4

 Christ told his followers and it is recorded in Matthew 24:24, 25 “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible even the elect. Behold, I have told you in advance.” Even with these warnings from scripture many will plow headlong into deception and follow false teachers and false prophets. There are numerous false teachers on earth today.

 You may have heard good bible teachers say that Satan does not wear a red suit with a pitchfork, he is ever crafty and intelligent, he disguises himself as light and may be beautiful in appearance. ( read 2 Cor. 11:13-15)

 2 Tim 4:3-4

 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.”

 Part 3 – Shocking footage of one of the worst “invasions” of false spirits that the church has ever seen. Proof showing that she has been invaded by counterfeit spirits on a worldwide scale. This is the third part of a documentary tracing this massive invasion – and showing the terrible impact it has had. Please share it with your friends.

 Leaders and movements involved:

“prophetic, apostolic, Todd Bentley, Lakeland revival, Rick Joyner, Morningstar, Toronto blessing, new Mystics, John Crowder, ihop, Mike Bickle, Patricia King, Joshua Mills, who promotes new age out of body spirit travel and other manifestations, false revival, the river, Bob Jones, john Paul Jackson, Sid Roth, chuck pierce, Bill Johnson, Randy Clark, Peter Wagner, Dutch Sheets, Pentecostal, charismatic.”

Do these manifestations look like those in the video are in control, sober, alert? It does not! The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8 to be watchful, alert, and vigilant because our adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. When this instruction is ignored, we are easy pray for the enemy and can be deceived.

 “False manifestations are often caused by believers seeking “touches”, blessings or experiences, rather than seeking God for HIS sake. It is very dangerous for Christians to seek anything but a deeper and purer relationship with Christ Himself. Any seeking after mere touches or experiences is really nothing but soulishness, and can result in great spiritual deception. Some of the false manifestations that result are merely fleshly, while others can be downright demonic – especially if they involved a ‘casting off of restraint’ or a kind of “wildness”. Sometimes in extreme cases it is possible for whole movements to be given over to these kinds of countrfeit manifestationss.” Andrew Strom from Why I left the Prophetic Movement -

“Be sober, be vigilant,…. The apostle had exhorted to each of these before; see 1 Peter 1:3 but thought fit to repeat them; sobriety and watchfulness being exceeding necessary and useful in the Christian life; and the one cannot well be without the other: unless a man is sober in body and mind, he will not be watchful, either over himself or others, or against the snares of sin, Satan, and the world; and if he is not on his watch and guard, he is liable to every sin and temptation. “ Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible

Keep your Lamps Lit

Be in Readiness

“Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.  Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they will immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks.  Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them. Whether he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves. But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have allowed his house to be broken into. You too, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.”   Luke 12:35-40

Antidotes to Stress

From  YouTube w/video: ANTIDOTES TO STRESS by Dr. Harold Sala

Want to put stress into perspective? Then Guideline #1: Get God’s perspective.

Guideline #2: Let your relationship with Him be an anchor or a gyroscope which holds the ship of your life steady. Hebrews 6:9 speaks of faith as an anchor of the soul both sure and steadfast. A boat without an anchor drifts with the winds and tide, and so do individuals who don’t have anything lasting to hold them steady in the face of stress.

Question: When you were a little kid did you ever say, “My daddy can beat up your daddy”? Well, why not apply that logic to the power of your Heavenly Father in relationship to what causes your stress? Do you really believe that nothing can happen to you apart from the knowledge and will of our Heavenly Father? An acquaintance of mine will put his feet on his desk and say, “So what if they fire me? They can’t take my family; they can’t take away my wife, or my children. All they can take is my paycheck and I’ll trust God for my needs, as Scripture says I can.”

Guideline #3: Stop bearing your load and God’s, too. Stress says, in effect, God, you aren’t big enough to handle this, so I’d better figure out what I’m going to do. Make a note of I Peter 5:7 and Psalm 55:22 which tell us we are to take our loads of stress and our burdens of care and lay them at the feet of a Savior who loves you and cares for your life.

Guideline #4: Bring your lifestyle into harmony with the will of God. Frankly, we bring much of our stress upon ourselves, trying to do what God never intended us to do and living lives which are designed to create stress. Do you think Jesus ever ran from one meeting to another? Ever wonder if He healed everybody in Palestine when He was here? No! He knew that there were some things which were beyond His physical endurance and He left them right there.

If your life is out of harmony with what God expects, you are the only one who can do anything about it. One of the greatest stress points today is broken families and our relationships which have broken down. And you, friend, are the only one in the entire world who can do anything about that—which brings me to my next guideline.

Guideline #5: Change! Change your schedule which is overloaded. Change your workload. Change your diet. Change your habits; change your lifestyle. Change your way of thinking. This may mean learning how to say “No!” but saying it in such a way that others understand that you’d like to do something but you simply cannot.

Guideline #6: Budget stress by learning to manage your time. Often we create stress for ourselves because we don’t plan far enough ahead. Compressing too much into our schedules, we don’t have time to prepare adequately for the future, and when it gets here too soon, we face stress. You don’t leave for the appointment early enough to avoid traffic. You walk into the office five minutes late to the glare of your boss. You have to learn to eliminate stress by planning and by handling your time better.

Guideline #7: Eliminate stress in your family through effective communication. This includes confrontation as well as communication. Thinking of confrontation as negative, we tend to avoid dealing with issues which keep building up, and eventually we feel the pressure and stress.

To the disciples Jesus said, “…In the world ye shall have tribulation:” (or stress, as the word can aptly be translated,) but be of good cheer,” he said, “I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 KJV).

Encouragement Brings Hope

Encouragement brings Hope

All around are people who need to be encouraged. People who don’t know the Lord need to be encouraged that God is real and cares about them and wants them to truly know Him.

Believers in Christ need to be encouraged as well. Those that Stand Firm in their Faith honoring the word of God with their lives, especially need encouragement because they are under attack more consistently. 1 Peter 5:8,9 says: “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.“ The devil  attack them the most in order to discourage their work and their walk in Christ.

No matter what our circumstances are, those who know God through His word are encouraged by His word. The Scriptures are there for our example, our instruction and for our training in righteousness. Romans 15:4 tells us: “For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

Isaiah 40:31   “Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.”

Suffering and God’s Protection

How do we understand the Lord’s protection? Sometimes God moves in miraculous ways in protecting his people from danger and trouble, but suffering is not a sign that God does not care for us, it is just a fact of life that suffering will come, and this world is fallen.

 Some suffering is by chance, other times it is a consequence of neglect, and at other times it is because of sin. Suffering is something we all go through at one time or another. During these times our faith is tested. Sometimes our suffering is used to draw us closer to God, it is a way to get our attention to the things that really matter in life.

One way of understanding our suffering is by trusting the Sovereignty of God. Roman 8: 28 tells us “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. “ The bible doesn’t promise us a life free from pain but does assure us that God is with us in the midst of it. For the believer, one day our pain will be gone forever

 The Bible reassures us that God is our protector :

“The LORD also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble; And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. Psalms 9:9,10

 “I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber, Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your right hand.” Psalms 121:1-5

“He delivers the afflicted in their affliction, And opens their ear in time of oppression.” Job 36:15

 “He keeps the feet of His godly ones, But the wicked ones are silenced in darkness; For not by might shall a man prevail.” 1 Samuel 2:9

 “Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6,7

 Having the peace of God doesn’t mean that difficult times will not come, but does assure us in having courage and victory in those circumstances. Obedience to God’s commands is another form of God’s protection. By obeying what God says in his word, it keeps us from troubles and consequences of disobedience. It is better to say like the Psalmist “You are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble.” Psalms 32:7   To obey God is to bear good fruit.

When enemies come against us they really are coming against the Lord. “Don’t be afraid just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today…The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” Exodus 14:13,14   As we trust the Lord, we will trust Him to fight our battles, He is our protector.

Psalms 91: 1-4  “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!” For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.”

 I will praise God for my circumstances, and by prayer make known what is on my heart, and trust Him with the outcome. God is always faithful.

He Cares for You

God’s word is an anchor in the storms of life. When troubles come for a Christian the Bible is always a comforting source to encourage us in our faith. Christians have a living relationship daily with God through Jesus Christ, and we can go in prayer.

Hebrews 4:16 says: “Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Phillippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  He cares for you.

Jesus has told us in Matthew 6:25-26 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worry about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? “

There is abundant comfort in God’s promises. When Christians patiently endure through their trials, God gives strength to the believer in the midst of them.  Psalms 55:22 says: “Cast your burden upon the LORD, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.”

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart

And do not lean on your own understanding,

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

 And He will make your paths straight.

Do not be wise in your own eyes;

Fear the LORD and turn away from evil. “

Proverbs 3:5-7

Patricia King and the Mystic Anointing

Jesus warned that in the last days that there would be false prophets.  Matthew 24:4-5 “And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you, “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many.”   Matthew 24:11 “Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many.”

Matthew 24:24 “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.  Behold, I have told you in advance.

At 5:45 into the video, King talks about getting a booklet from her ministry that teaches “how to move in the Mystical element” (The Seer Anointing). King then continues to support this by referring to “history” and says that those who had supernatural encounters were referred to as ’Witches’,… called Mystics, and the institutional church didn’t understand  them and they were burned at the stake.

 This next video is of the Bethel Church in Redding, California. Bill Johnson is the Pastor. This is what they call a “Fire Tunnel”. In this tunnel, people are supposedly getting drunk in the spirit and getting healed. This is not only un-Biblical, it’s demonic and no Christian should be anywhere near this.

The Bible makes it clear that we are to test all things – 1 Thess 5:21,22. We must be discerning and test the teachings and practices with the Word of God and if they do not align with Scripture we know that it is a false teaching, a counterfeit, and is not from God.  Sadly some Christians feel they are beyond the reach of deception and say they can’t be deceived because they have the Holy Spirit.  But remember Jesus’ words from Matthew 24:4,5, Jesus said “See to it that no one misleads you.”  That means you must be SOBER, WATCHFUL, and ALERT.  If Jesus said to “See to it that no one misleads you”, then why do many Christians think they can’t be deceived or mislead by false teachings and false teachers!  The warnings and instructions are clear in the Bible,  we only need to heed those warnings and obey.

Deuteronomy 13:1-4 “If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes true concerning which he spoke to you, saying ‘Let us go after other gods [whom you have not known] and let us serve them,’ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you to find out if you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.  You shall follow the LORD your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him.

2 Peter 1-2 “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.  Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;

Enduring Trials

The Lord is My Shepherd

Troubles and Trials have a way of getting us down and overwhelming us, but on the other hand, when God reveals something in His Word He wants us to believe it. Prayer and Faith are a strong foundation against any adversity we may face. Life can have a way of flinging us to the ground and hopefully on our knees that we may be humbled to look to Christ for our help and redemption, our deliverance. In the Bible, when Jesus was speaking to His disciples he told them “Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full…, “for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.” (John 16:24, 27)

But if we were to stop reading the Scripture right there at verse 27 we would miss the point of a greater lesson. We would start to think we are alone and without hope, or the opposite that because we know the Lord everything in life must be great, uncomplicated and trouble-free, but that is not the point. Jesus continued to say to his disciples in John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have over come the world.

Jesus comforts us in all our troubles and trials and enables us to endure them. There is a purpose of our sufferings that the Apostle Paul addresses in 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. Paul goes on to tell us in verses 8-10 of 2 Corinthians that his hope was in Christ even in the midst of his sufferings, that he trusted Christ to deliver them out of those circumstances.

Be Unto Your Name

Be Unto Your Name

Praise for the LORD’S Mercies

 Praise for the LORD’S Mercies – Psalm 103

Bless the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name.

Bless the LORD, O my soul,  And forget none of His benefits;

Who pardons all your iniquities,  Who heals all your diseases;

Who redeems yur life from the pit,  Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compasion;

Who satisfies your years with good things,  So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

The LORD performs righteous deeds And judgments for all who are oppressed.

He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the sons of Israel.

The LORD is compassionate and gracious,  Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.

He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever.

He has not dealt with us according to our sins,  Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,  So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.

As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Just as a father has compassion on his children,  So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.

For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.

As for man, his days are like grass;  As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

When the wind has passed over it, it is no more,  And its place acknowledges it no longer.

But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him,  And His righteousness to children’s children,

To those who keep His covenant  And remember His precepts to do them.

The LORD has established His throne in the heavens,  And His sovereignty rules over all.

Bless the LORD, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obey the voice of His word!

Bless the LORD, all you HIs hosts, You who serve Him, doing His will.

Bless the LORD, all you works of His,  In all places of His dominion;  Bless the LORD, O my soul!

The Righteous take refuge in the Lord

PSALMS 11

In the LORD I take refuge; How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain;

 For, behold, the wicked bend the bow, They make ready their arrow upon the string To shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.

If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?”

The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD’s throne is in heaven;  His eyes behold His eyelids test the sons of men.

The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked, And the one who loves violence His soul hates.

Upon the wicked He will rain snares; Fire and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup.

For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; The upright will behold His face.

Psalms 135:5-7   For I know that the Lord is great  And that our Lord is above all gods.  Whatever the LORD pleases, He does,  In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps. He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings forth the wind from His treasuries.
